The Borough of Archbald is located in Northeastern Pennsylvania and is part of Lackawanna County in the Blue Ridge Mountain range. The entire region is about 100 miles from both New York City and Philadelphia. Two major highways, US Route Six (also known as the Casey Highway) and Business Route Six connect the borough directly to Interstate 81, Interstate 380 and the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

The Borough is the seventh largest in Pennsylvania, with 11,400 acres covering 17.8 square miles. The Lackawanna River flows through the borough along part of Main Street and is a Trophy Trout Fishing area. Lackawanna County operates a railroad that runs through the borough and connects the National Steamtown Railroad Museum with the Carbondale Railroad Yard.
